A Web-Based Decision Support System for Aircraft Dispatch and Maintenance

Aircraft dispatch involves determining the optimal option when an aircraft experiences unexpected failure. Currently, maintenance technicians at apron have limited access to support information and finding right in extensive manuals is a time-consuming task, often leading technically induced delays. This paper introduces novel web-based prototype decision system aid during decision-making subsequent execution. A architecture for real-time established implemented. The developed evaluated through case study operational environment by licensed technicians. fully automates retrieval from multiple data sources, performs alternative identification evaluation given fault message, provides technician with on-site relevant information, including related tasks. indicates potential time saving of up 98% per decision. Moreover, it enables digitalization the—currently mostly paper-based—dispatch process, thereby reducing logistics waste. first provide domain addresses lack correlation between theory practice found systems research providing representative study. custom parser SGML-based documents efficient extraction vastly contributing overall reduction time.
